"I Am An Elk"
Becoming an Elk is very Easy!
There's nothing difficult about joining the Elks. In fact, we have only three requirements:
1. You must be a Citizen of the United States.
We are a patriotic organization - one that loves our Nation and the principles on which it was founded. Those principles include freedom, tolerance and equality under the law. We don't look to exclude anyone with this requirement, only to honor citizenship as a sign of true devotion to the United States.
2. You must believe in God.
We don't care what church you attend or what religion you practice. In fact, we don't require any religious affilitation at all. We only ask that you believe in God, and that you are willing to attest to that belief.
3. You must be a person of good moral character.
This doesn't mean we will pry into your personal behavior or investigate your life. However, the Elks prohibit membership to a person who has been convicted of a felony, or a serious misdemeanor charge which indicates you do not accept the importance of ordinary moral standards. (If you have questions about this requirement, please direct them to the Lodge Secretary.)
That's it! If you meet those basic requirements, you can easily join us in saying, "I Am An Elk." If you care about the things we care about, and want to do something good in your community, APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP! It only takes a few minutes!
